This fish is beautiful. This is the first observation that anyone would have once they set their eyes on this species of bass. This species of bass is very much unlike its American cousin who is ugly by any standard. This fish actually belongs to the cichlids fish family and not bass family but because of its resemblance to the bass, it bears its name.

Its name "peacock bass" comes not as much from its multicolored body, but from a large black eye type of mark on its body which is very similar to the peacock feathers' decoration.
